How should I recover the data from this laptop SATA hard disk?

I have a Fujitsu MHW2160BHPL SATA 160GB Notebook hard disk that originally belonged to an HP Pavilion dv2315nr that was decommissioned for quite a while. Having to realize that I left a good amount of precious documents and multimedia files, I am pretty desperate to retrieve them. Unfortunately, I learned that sending this disk to the manufacture will cause way too much and I would like some advices other than this. Anything would do! Like, do they sell electronic readers that are like memory card slots, but instead it's for hard drives on eBay! C'mon computer people help me out! I'll give points to the best answer :-)
