Window XP setup does not see laptop hard drive?

I am attempting to replace Window Vista on my laptop Fujitsu Life Book A6110 with Window XP. The Window XP setup, which is running from the DVD drive, does not "see" any hard drive in the laptop, although the BIOS can recognize the hard drive. Please help. Thanks.
