Computer utilities: what program can i use to determine/repair slow boots/freezes?

sometimes my pc won't boot up very fast or shut down fast, or screen may turn kinda white and freeze for a while,,,its a fujitsu laptop by the way and about a month old. is their a program that can monitor for stuff like that and repair damaged files/bios? thanks.
