Changing Hard Drive? Good or bad choice?

It won't get slower, but I highly doubt you will see any kind of real increase in speed other than the fact that you are likely going to start from fresh on it. Once you have a computer that old basically nothing you do to it is going to increase the speed much other then memory, since 512 was unworkable small 3 years ago.
